Vail’s Villages and How to Choose Which One is Right For You
Vacationing in Vail is quite the experience, with unparalleled access to Vail Mountain and Beaver Creek two of North America’s best ski resorts the winter seasons are a fabulous time to vacation. But the town has more to offer guests than skiing, summer and fall ensure beautiful sunny days with a great climate that seems to encourage outdoor activities. World class fly fishing on the Gore Creek and Eagle River, hiking in the surrounding mountains, mountain biking and kayaking are all favorites of locals and guests. Though Vail isn’t only about the outdoor activities, with a great city life uncommon in many ski towns there is plenty to see within Vail Village and its partner Lionshead Village.
When preparing a vacation to Vail one of the first issues is where to stay, with a wide array of locations, style, price points and accommodations this isn’t the easiest task. This is where we come in, our local and highly knowledgeable staff have years of experience in booking clients and ensuring that their lodging is perfect for them. Our company utilizes a diverse inventory of accommodations that includes private homes, hotel rooms, condos and more to provide you with our recommendations on where to stay. The final choice is certainly all yours, but our work guarantees better prices and options without searching on the web for hours.
One of the primary options when vacationing in Vail is whether to stay in Vail Village or Lionshead Village. While both are incredible options that provide quick access to the mountain, shops, restaurants and bars there are subtle differences that can help guide you. First off, Vail Village is commonly thought of as more energetic and ritzy, with stunning lodging offered through the Vail Plaza Club, One Willow Bridge or the Austria Haus there is no short supply of 5 star lodging. In addition, Vail Village is noticeably larger than Lionshead so for guests looking at spending considerable time exploring Vail this is your prime option. Lively vacationers will enjoy Bridge Street with bars ranging from the mellow Tap House to the lively Samana Lounge which frequently features live music and a packed dance floor. Great restaurants include the long standing Vail favorite Sweet Basil, an outstanding Alpenrose Restaurant with consistent and great American food and many, many more. Vail Village as a result of its dense nature tends to be a little more pricey, outgoing and community based making it a great choice for younger guests and those looking to get out at night.
In contrast, Lionshead Village offers an outstanding base for those looking to relax and unwind while in Vail. It’s comfortable, and condensed nature guarantees a homely feel where within days you’ll be recognizing smiling faces. Outstanding accommodations are offered from the Arrabelle, a modern take on classic European architecture that is a stone’s throw from the base, the always great Marriott and a wide variety of other options incredibly close to the base. While Lionshead Village has a much smaller collection of bars and restaurants there is still a lively scene at the base, especially after a great Spring day. It’s here that the true Apres ski scene forms with younger generations making there way to Garfinkels for drinks and Moe’s BBQ for food. Lionshead Village is much more laid back, and as such guests looking to enjoy time with their fellow companions will enjoy staying here. In addition, families with younger kids will enjoy Vail’s only gondola as it carries them up to Eagle’s nest where a wide range of activities from snowshoeing to snowmobiling can keep younger kids fully entertained.
I hope all of us at VailSkiVacations.com can help you find the perfect lodging!
