Girls love wearing fancy masks!

Girls love wearing fancy masks!

February 14-19 is Carnivail! I’ve noticed signs around town and can’t be more excited! After their Super Bowl win- I think all of America is pumped for Mardi Gras, and this is Vail’s own version! If you can’t make it to New Orleans, then what better way to spend it than in the mountains? Our stars alone are better than the fireworks, and the people know here know how to celebrate!

After finishing our own great event- Vail Gay Ski Week- we are rested and ready to participate in this once a year event in Vail! Come see our friends, the Frogs Gone Fishin’, at the Fat Tuesday Parade (free!)! We love these guys, and they are local favorites!

Missing that dirty south great cookin? Not a problem- join us in becoming fat kids again with the “World’s Highest Low Country Crawfish Boil” at Eagle’s Nest. Go skiing or riding afterward to burn those calories! Here’s the menu Vail has planned:

1 lb. Crawfish, Andouille Sausage, Corn, New Potatoes, Garlic Bread – $14.95

Bowl of Gumbo – $7.95

Crawfish Etouffee- $8.95

King Cake – $3.50

I will also be hitting up my favorite places in Vail- Sweet Basil, Samana, the Tap Room, and more. Email me if you want to plan meeting up!

Vail Gay Ski Week Aftermath

February 1st, 2010 sragsdale Posted in Vail Gay Ski Week No Comments »

I can’t believe Vail Gay Ski Week is gone, done, over, finished.  I was all the time, “Where is the time going? Why is time flying by so fast!” The parties were memorable, the friends unforgettable.  I miss it all, all ready. Next event up for grabs is Vail Gay Summer, and man, do we have everything already planned for it!  We’ve been planning both at the same time, and all the snags that came with this event will not be there in the summer. This event is here to stay, for years to come, and the hundreds who came out to be a part of of Vail Gay Ski Week were super psyched about next year, and this summer.  So CHEERS to everyone, and we here at Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals are waiting for you all to come out this summer!

POPular Party

January 30th, 2010 sragsdale Posted in Vail Gay Ski Week No Comments »

The night started off with a benefit dinner. I had the salmon, and it was DUHliziozo! (delicious)  Afterwords, I put on my sports jacket, and rolled on in to some great house music by dj guillaume.  I was met by the Vail Gay Ski Week staff with a smile, and saw a room full of silent auction items that many people were bidding on.  It was fun.  As I entered the party, I noticed all the Hotel staffed by the corner bars selling drinks and handing out appetizers.  The feel was great, the music was pumping, and everyone was having a great time.  This was the party to end all parties.  At the end of the night, Vail Gay Ski Week announced the winners of the benefit dinner.  I didn’t win the golf pants that I had bid on.  I hope that whoever won remembers my fight to the finish for these pants!  Good night all!

The Best of Local Vail

October 16th, 2009 Posted in Colorado Travel, Vail Gay Ski Week, Vail Valley Happenings Comments Off

While planning Vail Gay Ski week this year Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals has been brainstorming on how to set itself apart from other ski resorts. Aspen is incredibly supportive of our cause and we have been thinking about what we can offer our guests that no one else can. After much thought about prices and possibilities the answer suddenly became very clear.

Lets do Vail justice by taking all of the reasons we love Vail and bringing them to the gay community and beyond. Vail is known for being a skiers mountain for one reason alone, because the mountain is ridiculous and has something to offer for everyone of all ages and skill levels. You come to Vail to ski, snowboard, bike, fish, hike, or for the humble reminder that this is a beautiful world we live in. You live in Vail because you are addicted to the open air, the local people, the awe-inspiring mountain, and the feeling of starting everyday by waking up everyday full of adrenaline.

vailWe are a local community full of a diverse staff that has about only one thing in common, we love Vail and there is no one else on earth we would rather be. To put on an event that will put Vail on the map in the right way we are not going to sugar coat it with a circus and neon light show we are going to saturate the event with our good ol’ mountain charm.

The goal of Vail Gay Ski Week this year named “Out on the Mountain” is to bring out the best of vail4Vail and showcase it. We want it to be affordable, accessible, and an event that everyone can come to and not worry about it burning a hole in their wallet. There is no need to dress Vail up, Vail is memorable because of its intimate villages and friendly faces.

We want people to remember Vail because they had a authentic experience full of parties, skiing, and friends just like it should be. Rocky Mountain Vacation Rentals is excited to join with the community in making this event incredible and you are all invited to join!
